Dr. Richard Germain 
Associate Professor
of Marketing
Challenge for
Excellence Chair in Supply Chain Management
Dr. Richard Germain of the University of Louisville has joined
the Center for a Sustainable Aluminum Industry (CSAI) to develop
a white paper on critical supply chain management issues facing
the aluminum industry.
Dr. Germain is Associate Professor of Marketing and Challenge
for Excellence Chair in Supply Chain Management at University of
Louisville ’s College of Business Public Administration ,
with a research interest in Supply Chain Management,
Marketing History, and the Chinese business context. Dr. Germain
has received numerous awards in both research and teaching during
his academic career. A graduate of Concordia and McGill Universities,
Dr. Germain received his PhD. in Marketing, with minors in Logistics
and Advertising, from Michigan State University.
Dr. Germain's major research areas include:
- Supply Chain Management: Explaining strategy, organizational
structure, environment, and performance.
- Marketing History: Marketing practice and theory
during the late 19 th and early 20 th century.
- International Business: Focus on Chinese state-owned
enterprise context, structure, and performance
