Dr. John Garen

Dr. John Garen of the University of Kentucky has joined the Center
for a Sustainable Aluminum Industry (CSAI) to develop a white paper
on Worker Productivity, Human Resource Management, and Incentive
Systems in the Aluminum Industry.
John Garen is Professor of Economics at the University of Kentucky.
He previously was Visiting Associate Professor at the University
of Chicago, and Assistant Professor at Wayne State University.
He received his Ph.D. in economics in 1982 from Ohio State University,
his M.A. in economics from Ohio State in 1978, and a bachelor's
degree in economics from the University of Washington in 1976.
Dr. Garen's major research areas include:
- The economics of incentive systems
- Economic organization
- Labor and human resource economics
